Relaxing Sleep Tea by Cuppa Magic (review)

Disclosure: I received the Relaxing Sleep Tea for a reduced price for my fair, honest, and unbiased review. The opinions expressed are mine and my son Steven's.

A bit over a year ago, when Steven was going through the pain management program, the pain management doctor recommended that he drink chamomile tea at bedtime to help him relax.  He was already a tea drinker, so adding herbal tea to his bedtime routine wasn't a problem! When I had the opportunity to review the Relaxing Sleep Tea by Cuppa Magic, he wanted to try it. In fact, Steven was the one who made the most cups of tea from the tea packet of 14 tea bags! He really liked the taste of it, and so did I!

It contained chamomile, ginger root, saffron, licorice, fennel seeds, rosebuds, spearmint, rosehips, lemongrass, and Tulsi Holy Basil.  The ingredients had some anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It was definitely a relaxing tea at bedtime, and I would definitely order it for Steven and me both! Relaxing Sleep tea

Christmas and Holiday Events in Brevard County, FL (sponsored)

Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post. I'm writing it to inform my readers and others of events in my area, for EventBrite.

Hi! I was asked by the great people at EventBrite to write a post about events going on in my area during this time of the year.  I really couldn't think of anything really going on in November related to fall activities, so I'm opting to write about holiday and Christmas-themed events/parades going on this month. Check out EventBrite 's page  here to get tickets to events in Brevard County, in FL, or in your area, wherever you live in the USA.

There is one event that I don't know for sure when it will occur, and it's the Bible on Parade. It usually happens within the first 2 weeks of December in Melbourne, FL. I compiled this information about the other parades with a friend of mine, Jessica.

Below is a list of the parades in our area:

Merritt Island Parade : December 3, 2016 at 10 a.m.  It goes from Merritt Island High School and goes to Edgewood Junior High School.

Cocoa/Rockledge Parade :  (for some reason or another, we keep on missing this parade! It happens on son's birthday, and we usually haven't been around for it!) It's on December 10, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
It goes from Rockledge High School to Lee Wenner Park (Florida Avenue is closed during it.).

Cocoa Beach Parade: December 10, 2016 at 1p.m.
1 Minuteman Causeway, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

Cocoa Beach Christmas Boat Parade: December 10, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

Merritt Island Boat Parade: on the river on December 10, 2016 at 6 p.m.

If you get the chance to come over to Brevard County in FL, try to go to one of our parades!

Holiday Gift Guides 2016 TWLOHA (sponsored)

Disclosure: I received information from TWLOHA to post, and no compensation was received.

Since I have posted on TWLOHA previously in the past year, if I remember correctly, I  really felt that they were an important group to include in hopefully one of several gift guides for this holiday season 2016. TWLOHA is a non-for-profit movement involved in getting rid the stigma of mental health and letting people know that they are not by themselves. They present hope for those who are having problems with suicide, depression, self-injury, and addiction. They also invest in treatment and recovery.  This group has been around for about a decade, so they aren't a new start-up. For more information about TWLOHA, go to TWLOHA .

They offer t-shirts, iPhone cases, beanies, tote bags, stickers, notebooks, and a lot more in their online store at TWLOHA shop.  ALSO, if you are in the Central FL area, on November 12th, they will be having a warehouse sale at 404 E. New Haven Ave, in Melbourne, FL 32901. I am not tied into them in any shape or form,  but I really feel that they are a very worthy cause.
Here are a few pictures of the many items that they offer for sale in their store online!

MiraFIBER (review)

Disclosure: I received free product for review from Bayer, via BzzAgent, in order to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed were my own.

Okay, so constipation is a subject that many don't want to discuss in their own households, much less with their friends or coworkers, or even total strangers! I'm discussing constipation with you today, in hopes that I can share my opinions and maybe even some information with you about MiraFIBER!
I have had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) since I believe with '93 or '94, it's been so long ago that it started that I just can't remember anymore! As one with IBS, I've either had normal bowel movements, or constipation, or diarrhea. Having anything other than normal bowel movements is not fun, to say the least! TMI, I know, but this is real!

For the past few months, if I wasn't taking a bowel med, I was very constipated and I would have some gas and bloating with it. The gas and bloating weren't very comfortable. There are some meds out there for constipation that are over-the-counter that weren't working for me at all. I was given the opportunity to try MiraFIBER, and I signed up for it before I got put on a  prescription med for constipation. I will admit that I went off of my prescription bowel med for a bit so that I could give the MiraFIBER a chance.

Some reasons for someone to have irregularity are: aging, not drinking enough water, not active enough or not getting exercise, low fiber in the diet, and holding your bowel movements in (resisting the urge to go poop).  Remember that regularity varies from individual to individual!
Some ways to encourage regularity are drinking more water, exercising,  and increasing fiber in your diet.  Some foods that are high in fiber are prunes, oats, brown rice, peas, kale, to name a few!

MiraFIBER with DailyComfort Fiber comes in three choices: MiraFIBER Orange Powder, MiraFIBER Sugar-free Orange Powder, and MiraFIBER Caplets. I chose the MiraFIBER Sugar-free Orange Powder to use. I used a tablespoon of the SF orange MiraFIBER with somewhere between 12-16 ounces of water the first time that I used it, and stirred it well before drinking it down. I did have to add a pinch more water to drink with it. You want to make sure that you mix the powder well, so that you don't choke on it.  After the first use, I didn't go so well. I seriously didn't pay attention to the instructions, I guess, because you can use it up to three times a day. After that I followed the instructions and it worked much better! My tummy was happy!  My opinion... I felt that it worked and was helpful when I followed the instructions for the product. Do I recommend it? Yes! Also for more information, go to DailyMiraFIBER.com !

I do have a few coupons that I can share with you all if you want to try it. E-mail me at barbs562@gmail.com if you are interested in trying it.

Hurricane Matthew

My family is currently hunkered down in our home with hurricane shutters on all windows and and sliding glass doors. Please be safe if you are in the path of Matthew. We will be in its target tonight in FL ,  and will be losing power. I may not be online for a bit with the blog--- I know that I have several posts to write, and apologize for them being late.

New York Biology 100% Pure & Natural Sandalwood Essential Oil (review)

Disclosure: I received the essential oil for free or at a reduced price in order to facilitate my honest and unbiased review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Okay, so I have reviewed lavender essential oil from New York Biology. Today, I'm reviewing their Sandalwood essential oil.  I don't recall mentioning in my last review of their oils, so I'll mention it here... these oils are not to be ingested.  Now, on to my review... Sandalwood has been in products that I've used in the past few years, like soaps and bath products. This was my first experience with just the sandalwood oil.  This oil is used in perfumes, colognes, aftershave, bath products, and can be used with incense or a oil diffuser (like the kind that you can put on an older style of lightbulb.).

It has a pleasant outdoorsy woody scent. I have been more inclined to put in my bath water, for a soak with some epsom salts. and mix with another essential oil! I would also put a drop or two on a cotton ball, and put the cotton ball on a saucer to scent a room.  I do recommend it. This essential oil is calming to me!

Beginning Salsa Dance 3-Pack--- 3 DVD Beginning Salsa Dance Move (review)

Disclosure: I received this 3 dvd set for free or for a reduced price in order to facilitate my honest and fair review. The opinions expressed are my own!

I have always been uncoordinated for some reason or another! I took an aerobics class in college back in the 80's, and I think that was one time when I actually was able to get myself coordinated in dance moves! That was also during the time when I went to the clubs and danced with my friends. Oh, back in the day! Anyhow, today I'm reviewing a dvd set that I received last year (during the time that I was grieving my dad).

The beginning salsa dance 3 pack consists of 3 DVDs in a lovely dvd set! What I really liked about the salsa dancing DVDs is that they did the picture-in-the-picture, showing you a closer picture of what the feet were doing  or whatever they were focusing on showing at that time. That was extremely helpful!  The tips and the music were a plus! I found that I could do some the dancing without tripping over my feet. I just wish that I could get my hubby to learn with me!

Eco -Friendly Exfoliating Gloves (review)

Disclosure: I received the exfoliating gloves for a reduced price for my honest and unbiased review. The opinions expressed are my own.

I received  Set of 3! Eco-Friendly Body Scrub Exfoliator Gloves Pack .The Set of 3! Eco Friendly Body Scrub Exfoliator Gloves Pack was a pleasure to use in the shower! Each one had a different material to use in the shower, depending on your skin type or what you needed to use it for like gentle exfoliation or more intense exfoliation. It also came with a finger exfoliator that could be used on the face. I gave son the non bamboo ones, and I used the one with bamboo. I loved the softness of the green side of the glove! Son needed more exfoliation for his acne and stronger scrubbing capabilities. They worked great! I hung them out of the bathroom to dry after use on a drying rack, since they mentioned in the booklet about not drying them in the bathroom.

I did not wash them in the washer, but rinsed them out thoroughly in the shower. So far, they are holding up okay!

my favorite one, one side of it!

the other side of my favorite!

FL Mom's Blog: Review of Purity Brush (toothbrush review)

Disclosure: I received the toothbrush at a reduced price for my fair and honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

I had heard of bamboo and wooden toothbrushes a few years back, but I hadn't used one until recently. (I had planned to have this review up yesterday before I went to bed, but between work this past weekend and coming down with a sinus infection I wasn't feeling too great.) The bamboo toothbrush by Purity Brush has a bamboo handle and binchotan charcoal infused bristles. Binchotan charcoal is  antiviral, antibacterial, and antiviral in nature.   The bristles are comfortable to my gums and my teeth. It did take a bit of time to get used to using a brush that had less give to it, since it was a wooden one. I did like that it was ecominded, in the sense that it's biodegradable and it's vegan. It's also PBA-free! I did like mine! For more information, Charcoal Infused Biodegradable Toothbrush

Learn English, Speak English (app review)

Disclosure: I was given a section of the app for free in order to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Oh boy! Being an American, born and bred here in the USA, I really thought that I spoke English clearly. I'm starting to think that I don't after I reviewed an app called Learn English, Speak English!
Don't get me wrong, it's a really cool learning app! It's as if you have your own tutor available when you have the chance to take in a lesson on your phone or your tablet!

The section that I was able to review had to do with counting from 1 to 10, and it took you through the lesson multiple times. At first, I tried to not talk in my normal voice, and I didn't do well. After I used it for a bit, I spoke in my regular voice, and that's when I didn't do well, like around 70 % or less! It was definitely challenging, and I can imagine being a Spanish speaking person trying to learn English via the app. Definitely challenging and interesting! I do recommend it!

This one is from my iPhone!

New York Biology Anti Aging Cream (review)

Disclosure: I received the product for a reduced price for my honest and fair review, good or bad. The opinions expressed are my own!

I recently reviewed the New York Biology Eye Gel. On the jar it says: Resistem Stem Cell Technologies   Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Formula     Lifting- Firming-Hydrating  It contained amino acid complex, Vitamin E, Plant Stem Cell, Matrrixyl 3000, and hyaluronic acid.  Those pretty much make up the ingredients for helping your skin to look more youthful!

What I did was use it mostly at night, or at what was considered my bedtime that day! Occasionally I would use it prior to going to work at night. I'd press down the pump-type dispenser which was unique, and apply the cream in a patting motion around the eye area, my forehead, and occasionally all over my face! It felt soothing and cooling, but not in a stinging way! My face felt firmer and more hydrated after I used it. Unfortunately, my dark circles did not go away or reduce any! I did like the product, and didn't have any irritation issues with it. Sometimes products irritate my skin, but this one didn't. For more information, check them out at New York Biology

Areta Fingertip Pulse Oximeter (review)

Disclosure: I received the pulse oximeter for a very reduced price, for my honest review, good or bad. The opinions expressed are mine!

Hi everyone! Do you or a family member have asthma or COPD? Or are you a healthcare worker like me? I recently reviewed the Areta Fingertip Pulse Oximeter. It uses a graphing area above the pulse and the O2 saturation reading on the pulse oximeter! I used it at work one night so far, and on myself, my husband, and my son to check our saturation levels. All were within normal limits for the people it was used on. I plan to use it at work, when I am checking oxygen saturation levels on those who are short of breath, those who have pneumonia and I need to know how they are perfusing, and the list goes on.

It is handy to use and so easy to carry. It can be hung by the lanyard around the neck, on a belt around the waist (The carrier it comes in can secure via a belt.), or be put in a pocket. Me--- I prefer not to wear anything around the neck, I've almost choked in the past from residents who were confused pulling on things hing around my neck.  I like the canvas type of material that the pulse oximeter can be stored it, it's quite sturdy! It runs on 2 AAA batteries, and they are able to be replaced by removing the small panel the bottom of the oximeter.  It works well and I was quiet pleased with it. The only thing that I haven checked with it is a nail with red nail polish on it! Those tend to be the hardest for a pulse oximeter to read through!  All in all, I was really impressed by this pulse oximeter, and  I would have gladly paid full price for it!
For more information, go to Area Fingertip Pulse Oximeter   !

FL Mom's Blog Review Appizz Foam Roller for Massage

Appizz Foam Roller for Muscle Massage -13" x 5.5" (Review)

Disclosure: I received the Appizz Foam Roller for a reduced price in order to facilitate my review, and the opinions expressed were mine and my family's!

Hi all! We recently reviewed the Appizz Foam Roller. When I said "we", I meant all 3 of us! I used it on Steve and Steven and myself. I thought of Steven when I applied to review this item, because he has myofascial pain in his back, and he's had it for 4 years now. Since he's had the pain for awhile and we do have to apply pressure manually on his back, and approval from therapy/ pain management, we are able to use this on him. It can be used for self-massage  to release muscle tightness.

The first time that I used it on son, he liked it, and I used it gently up and down his back. It helped to release some muscle tightness on him and the trigger point areas in his mid to lower back. I used it on him a few times after that, and the next thing I know, he's carrying it back to his room to use it for self-massage! He has really helped him, and I can guarantee you that after he gets home from the Senior high retreat with church tonight, he'll be wanting to use it. ( he forgot to take an air mattress with him this weekend and his back's going to be hurting.)

I used it on Steve a few times on his upper back while he was sitting in a chair and it helped loosen up the muscles a bit for him. I gently used it on his shoulder area, too.  I have used it on my shoulders and my neck, to help with muscle tightness. I have to be careful with using it on my back, since I have a neurostimulator---I avoid my mid-to-lower back with the roller due to it. It is 13" x 5.5".  The roller is made out of PVC and has a strong EVA-filled core--- it isn't supposed to crack! We really liked it, and are glad that we go the opportunity to review it! http://http//:wwe.amazon.com/dp/B01F7RW17A

New 2 in 1!!! Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask and Eternal Youth Exfoliating Scrub (reviews!)

Disclosure: I got these products at a very reduced price or for free for my honest review, good or bad. The opinions expressed are my own!

Do you like to do the best that you can to keep your skin in great shape? I am doing the best that I can do these days. Clean, exfoliate, clear pores, and moisturize!! Two of the products that I'm reviewing on the blog today cover three out of the four of those! The Eternal Youth Exfoliating Scrub has a rather exotic, but lovely smell to it! I used it first, prior to the clay mask. I took a little scoop of the scrub out of the jar with my fingers, and began to gently massage it around on my face. I rinsed it off with cool water and patted my face with a towel. My face felt clean and smooth, not dry!

Next, I tried the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask. I applied it to my face, avoiding the eye area. I waited for it to dry, then I used a moist washcloth to wipe it off. Then I rinsed my face with cool water and patted dry with a towel. My face felt clean and smooth, not dry, like after some of the clay masks that I have used in the past. I liked their products very much! Valentia Skincare

eShopMind Universal Cellphone Holder Plus Desktop Stand (Review)

Disclosure: I received product free or at a very reduced price in order to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed are mine!

I received a cellphone holder and a desktop stand for review from eShopMind, and I happen to love both products! The Universal Cellphone Clip Holder can clamp onto a desk or a counter if they are no more than 7 cm thick.  The arm for Cellphone clip holder is quiet flexible and can hold a position that you put it in. Say like, I wanted to view something on my iPhone while I was typing or searching on my Macbook, I could clamp my iPhone with the clip holder near me on the desk so that I could view it easier. The flexible hose on the clip holder is 28 inches in length, which is quite long in my book since my desk is 47 inches in length. Both items that I received are white in color.  I also like the desktop stand that came with it. It's a bit shorter in length than my iPhone if I lay it on its side. I tend to used the desktop stand on the love seat's arm when I am sitting on it to watch Periscope or to read something from my phone or to do something else on it. I've also had the desktop stand in the kitchen with me for hands-free use when I am cooking or doing dishes. I have found both to be absolutely useful, and I can't remember what I did without them!  They are on Amazon, eShopMInd Universal Cellphone Holder

J2Line Towels review

You can hear our birds making noise in the background! #J2Line

Camping, Travel, Fitness, and Gym Towel (review)

Disclosure: I received this product heavily discounted or free in exchange for my honest review, good or bad. The opinions expressed are mine.

The J2Line towels came two in a package; the large was 27" x 51" and the small was 12" x 27". The towels are made of microfiber and are very absorbent. They can be used for a lot of outdoor activities for the outdoorsy sort of person, or they can be used inside a gym or in your home.

I have found them to be quite helpful with drying dishes, drying after a bath or a shower drying my body, or even drying my wavy curly hair. I've found that using a regular towel on my hair to dry it, I tend to get frizzy hair. The microfiber towels have helped me get my hair to dry quicker, by wicking more of the wTer away---plus my hair's been less frizzy! I like that the towels dry quick, I've hung them up and by morning or later that day, they are air-dried! I can't wait to take them to the beach or a park or on a bike ride!

For more information,  check out J2Line Towels .

Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Super Youth Serum (review)

Disclosure: I received free or heavily reduced product in order to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Serums... A word that I don't recall hearing about when I was 40. Now that I am 54, it's a common word in beauty magazines, websites, and stores. Serum and Vitamin C.... even better! I love to use products that have the antioxidant effect on my skin, and products that have collagen boosting capabilities! I want to see less wrinkles!

I reviewed Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Youth Serum recently, and I was impressed by the results that I saw after using it for at least two solid weeks. My skin had a firmer and smoother feel and look to it. It looked more youthful. The dispenser had a pump to it, and dispensed out drops of the serum.. The serum was easy to apply, and it did not leave my fave feeling greasy. It had a faint but nice smell to it.

For more information, check out : Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum
