Today is #DeedADay !

8 major blogging groups are joining efforts with The 100 Good Deeds Organization. We are talking Clever Girls Collective, Everywhere Society, Latina Bloggers Connect, Mom It Forward, Niche Parent Network, One2One Network, and Type A Parent Network!  Have you joined them in this effort yet? It involves do a good deed a day, and moving the rubber piece around on a bracelet each time you do a good deed.  The 100 Good Deeds Bracelet was created by Mary Fisher. She spent about a decade working with women in Africa and other areas of the world, to help them make jewelry to help them earn money to better themselves. The bracelet is to help influence others to do a good deed, and inspire other acts of kindness! The bracelets serve as a reminder to us all to "Do Good, One Deed, One Bead, One Act Of Kindness at a time." You can think of it as paying it forward!

Did I mention that Mary Fisher is an artist, an author, and a HIV/AIDS activist, and that she designed the bracelets with 100 beads----strung by HIV-positive and economically fragile women in Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, South Africa, and Haiti. Wearing the bracelet will remind you to move the rubber piece after you do a good deed, till you reach the 100th bead! How awesome is that!

I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas to you and family from my family!

AlgaeCal Plant Sourced Calcium (review)

Let's face it, I'm in that age range where I should be worrying, or should I say, thinking about adding a calcium supplement! I consume dairy products and I absolutely love yogurt, but sometimes that's not enough!  I was given the opportunity to review AlgaeCal Plus, it's a plant-sourced calcium dietary supplement. The capsules are very easy for me to swallow and they are veggie capsules! I know that is important for my vegetarian readers, or for those who are trying to keep animal based products or supplements out of their diets. I really didn't notice a taste from the capsules, but then again, I was swallowing them with my morning and evening meds after meals. I recommend them!

I was surprised to see other vitamins minerals in the supplements, too. In each serving of 2 capsules you get Vitamin C 25mg, Vitamin D 800 IU, Vitamin K2 50mcg (*Please note, per AlgaeCal Inc, individuals taking anticoagulant drugs such as Coumadin or Heparin should avoid Vitamin K supplements unless otherwise directed by a physician. Consult your physician before use if you are pregnant, lactating, have a medical condition or are taking any other medication. Keep out of the reach of children.*), Calcium from algae 360 mg, Magnesium (from algae and magnesium oxide), Boron (as glycinate), and Algae 1200mg. You can take these as a dietary supplement, taking 4 capsules daily (two capsules twice a day with meals), or 3 capsules a day for maintenance.  Think about your bones and bone health!

(A note from Barb here: I was sick with a sinus infection and on antibiotics last week. Plus, I was driving Steven to school just about every morning last week after I got home from work.  After I got home from driving him to high school, and I would fall asleep on the sofa. Most mornings, I didn't get to check my e-mail. And, one more thing, I didn't even get my Christmas Cards done yet. Long story short... I missed writing this post early for the giveaway. I'm sorry, y'all! )

For more information and where you can purchase them, go to AlgaeCal Plant Sourced Calcium .

Women's Confidence Panties by Hush-Hush (review)

As I've become older there are a few things that I'm realizing, along with the nursing knowledge that I have from being a nurse for almost 27 years.  In a nutshell, as you get older, you may have a bit of incontinence issues. With me, it happens when I wait way too long to pee, or when I'm really sick and have a bad coughing spell with bronchitis or the flu.  The question for that situation would be, do I wear a pad or a pair of Hush-Hush panties? The pad wouldn't be a choice after trying Hush-Hush panties!

Hush-Hush and Wearever came up with panties that you can wear everyday and feel protected! And, they are pretty! I was given a panty to review. The panty I received was black, and the material it was made from was smooth! (There aren't any pictures of me wearing it, I'm not a panty model!) I wore it under a pair of ceil blue uniform pants to work one night, and it was so comfortable! I almost forgot that I was wearing them!  :o)  You almost forget that they have an absorbent layer! They are perfect for the days when you need them for the following reasons: they are perfect for those with light incontinence issues, occasional leaks, moisture from working out, and for worry of a menstrual leak-through.  They are also easy to care for, just hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. You can be dry and comfortable with these panties!

*Car Shade Jumbo* Best For Front Windshields (Review)

My windshield car shade was starting to show signs of wear, and I was so glad to be picked to review one! When I received the Car Shade Jumbo, I thought as I was opening it, "there's no way that this is going to fit my windshield". Why you ask? It was folded so compact in the cute pouch that it came in! Once I opened it up, I then realized that yes, it would fit fine! It did take me a bit to get a picture of the car shade in my car, since most of my driving is at night---driving to work.

I did have some time off last month when I was going to and from Dad's apartment helping him out with packing and going through his things. That's when I got a picture of it for the review. It fit the front windshield of my Corolla just fine! I definitely can't wait to use it more during some of our sunny winter days and even year round here in sunny Florida! I do like it and recommend it for cars with windshields about the size of my Corolla! It keeps your car cooler, especially on a hot day, and you go to open the car door after a day out and about! It's size is 150 cm length x 80 cm width x .01H = 59 inches L x 31 inches W x .03 in H. I like to know that I'm protecting my car's interior by using the car shade! It is made of premium metallic reflective polyester (nylon) materials and blocks up to 99% of damaging UV rays! It comes in Silver color only. You can check it out at Car Shade Jumbo !
They give a 100% money back guarantee.

Abigail and the Sahara Adventure (review)

I have read another e-book that you all might be interested in reading to your children and grandchildren! It's another addition in the Abigail adventure series, written by Tali Carmi and illustrated by Mindy Liang! In the previous Abigail adventure, Abigail went to the jungle and met a little boy. This time, she's at her grandparents' house, and she went up to their attic again. The bicycle was there! She spoke to the bicycle after looking at the book in the bike's basket, and the next thing that you know, she's off! She comes to a sandy area after she had passed some water in the ground, like an oasis. She meets a little girl from the area, and Abigail starts to talk with her. The little girl was out gather some water from the well but the well was dry. Abigail tells her of an area of water thatch saw on her way there. She took the girl and her father there, and lo and behold, there was water, not a mirage!

The little girl thanked her and gave her a bracelet! Then Abigail was off on the bicycle to head back to her grandparents. When she arrived back at her grandparents' house, she told them about her travels!  This was another interesting adventure e-book for the little ones--- the preschoolers, and for those who are starting to read! It would be a great book for someone's tablet or Kindle!

Mary J Blige: The London Sessions review

Disclosure: I received a digital copy of Mary J Blige's The London Sessions in order to facilitate the review. The options expressed are my own!

I didn't know much about Mary J Blige's music until a recently, when I heard a Christmas song of hers, to be quite honest. (I think that the song had been offered through a particular coffee shop that shall remain nameless in this post.) I figured why not review a singer that I was not familiar with, and the review would not be jaded in any way! Mary J Blige newest collection of songs is out on the market as of yesterday! I love this album, I can relax to her music!

Mary J. Blige has once again confounded expectations and ventured into a new musical territory by
crossing the Atlantic to collaborate with some of this decade's most celebrated UK talent - including Disclosure, Eg White, Emile Sande, Jimmy Napes, Naughty BoySAM ROMANS, and Sam Smith - and recorded a new studio album, The London Sessions.  I had a hard time picking just one song that I liked! I seriously enjoyed the whole album, and if you asked me which song was a favorite----I would have to tell you "Therapy" and "Nobody But You". I was playing "Nobody But You" for my Dad yesterday, and I told him that he could have dedicated "Nobody But You" to Mom.
Mary's music is "Therapy"to my my ears.

1) Therapy
2) Doubt
3) Not Loving You
4) When You're Gone
5) Right Now
6) My Loving
7) Long Hard Look
8) Whole Damn Year
9) Nobody But You
10) Pick Me Up
11) Follow
12) Worth My Time

Nature's True Medicine Vitamin D3 Review

I know that when I'd asked my primary care physician to run a vitamin D level on me about 2 or 3 years ago, I had a strong feeling that I had a low level! If I can remember correctly, my Vitamin D level was 25, which is very low. I hadn't been out in the sun in awhile. I was having aches in my arms and legs and my fibromyalgia was acting up something fierce. I'm only 52 now,  and most of the people who I know that have vitamin D deficiencies are old enough to be a parent to me, if not older!

These days it seems that Vitamin D deficiencies aren't out of the ordinary, and you don't have to be geriatric age to have low levels! The fact that I learned from Nature's True Medicine Vitamin D3 is that Vitamin D is related to almost very age related disorder including cancer and chronic inflammation. Isn't Fibromyalgia a chronic inflammation problem? Well, I started out taking 2000 IU daily in the beginning, and have ended up to increasing it to around 4000 IU a day. If I have my Women's Vitamin 50+ , then I'm usually taking around 5000 IU daily after dinner. I'm not sure when my level will be checked again, but I was around 40-something on my level the last time it was checked! An more important pearl of information from the Nature's True company is that studies have repeatedly show that higher levels of vitamin D are directly associated with few instances of
cold, flu, and other types of infections. If those who are taking Vitamin D on a daily basis can have  chronically low levels . What I found very disturbing is that a "good" level of Vitamin D level in the blood is 50ng/ml or more. (Not good, I'm barely there on my level!) About 90% of people have less than 50. And 50-70% of the people have less than 30ng/ml!   Eating Vitamin D rich foods are not adequate enough to keep the D level up in your body.  I have been taking their product for a few weeks and I'm taking it for the immune and bone health.

For more information on the product, go to: Nature's True Medicine and to on Amazon
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Nature Health D-Gas Anti-Gas Anti-Bloating review

Ladies and Gents, I hope that you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! Have you ever finished a meal or even between meals or at bedtime, and felt gassy or bloated? Those are not comfortable feelings, as far as I'm concerned! Those are feelings that I've felt, and we haven't had a product in the house to relieve them in awhile. I was glad when the opportunity arose to review Nature Health's D-Gas capsules for gas relief and bloating!

The lovely thing about their product is that the capsules are all natural! They are drug-free, and have the following ingredients in them: ginger, dill seed, fennel seed, cardamon, cumin seed, coriander seed, papain, and peppermint leaf. I've had to use them at least twice in the past few weeks, due something that I ate or having had a soda. I felt relief from the gassy and bloating feelings after taking them! Yay me!

I have a few things to tell you about the product, besides what I've mentioned above! They can be taken with meals, to prevent gas and bloating before you even feel the feelings, especially from  beans, vegetables and whole grains. The capsules are vegetarian, and are okay for those who are adverse to gelatin capsules. There are no artificial colors, no sugar, no artificial flavor or sweetener, no soy, no preservatives, no salt, no lactose, and no gluten in them. I like that if you needed to,  you could take them every day as a natural digestive aid, an anti-gas aid, and an antioxidant. They are doctor recommended! The dose is 2-3 capsules with water as needed after meals, at bedtime, or anytime you feel discomfort. Do not exceed 12 capsules in a 24 hour period.
For more information, you can stop by: naturehealthinc.com and D-Gas .

Sorry about posts lately, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi all, and Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow USA followers for tomorrow!
I just wanted to share something with you that I've been avoiding talking about online for a month or so.  I've been trying to keep up with my posts, but realized recently that I'm getting behind with some key ones, due to the craziness that my sisters and our families have been dealing with. (For Maia and Christiana, do not tell our cousin & aunt in FL regarding this, please! You know who I'm talking about!) Our father has been dealing with bone cancer, myeloplastic syndrome. He went through a cycle of chemo, and it pretty much lowered his counts, which were already low. He's been in the hospital and in a hospice unit in the past month. We are currently dealing with trying to get him moved, to go up North. It has not been easy to say the least, and I think that all three of us girls have taken some time off from work, and will be taking time off to take care of him. I've spent most of my days off helping pack and get laundry done or take him places to run errands.  It's not really something that many around us know, I never realized how stressful the situation was until this past month. I know that I've talked with my bosses about it, but not lately.

Bess A., if you see this, you will understand why I haven't been active on the site lately.

If I am behind on any posts  for any media groups, I will get the posts done soon.

HyperBiotics Pro-Kids The Perfect Children's Probiotic review

There is a natural and sugar-free probiotic on the market for children! HyperBiotics has a Tangy Citrus flavored small size pearl which kids can either chew or swallow depending on their age or capability of swallowing pills. I tried to show the size of them in an Instagram picture that I borrowed  my Dad to hold the pearl-shaped med and the bottle that it came from .  I've tried them, and they are a mild citrus taste, something that your child might like taking! My son's almost 16 (well, okay, December 10th he'll be 16!), and I have encouraged him to take probiotics throughout the years especially when he was taking an antibiotic. But, as he's grown older, he doesn't always take supplements that I recommend for him.  I do try to remind him that it's for gut health (I do take it for gut health due to having Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).  I think that he took it twice for me.
I included a bit of reading material from HyperBiotics for you to read!

I learned that 60% of the beneficial flora in their products will survive the stomach acid's of a child, and get to the intestine where they are truly needed. Some key points about the probiotic of theirs is that :1) it helps repair your child's microbiome, 2)they reverse the cycle of antibiotics, 3)full nutrient absorption, and 4) it reactivates their natural defenses. That's impressive to me! I would definitely recommend these during any season of the year! If you don't give them to your children for gut heath, at least get them taking them when they are antibiotics!

For more information : you can stop by their site: HyperBiotics Pro-Kids .

Low Back Pain Program by Sherwin Nicholson (review)

How many of you have low back pain or know someone close to you who does? In my household, both my husband and I have low back pain. He's had his pain since sometime in the 80's, before we got married. I had a bit back in the late 90's, and it definitely started getting worse around 2010. I started with some pain, then I started losing feeling in it, wanting to give out on me. I had lumbar back surgery in May 2013, but I still have some pain. I was quite happy to review Sherwin Nicholson's ebook!

I like that Sherwin Nicholson book explains about how to self treat back pain both easily and safely, with illustrations and pictures of real people doing the exercises with explanations. I'm a read and see kind of gal! I can remember doing some of these actually in physical therapy pre and post the lumbar surgery.  From the excerpt about his book, "Learn how to self treat chronic low back pain easily and safely with this fully illustrated, instructional, low impact, pain-safe, exercise guide long term. The majority of cases of chronic low back pain are either related to, or worsened by specific muscle
weaknesses and imbalances. This specifically designed guide carefully teaches the correct method to move, train and strengthen your body to properly relieve back pain. It uses nonsurgical, non medicinal, and safe methods for all ages and all difficulties. It will help with your current pain, to prevent the return of pain, and to reduce your dependency on medication and surgery. "

It has different sections in his book on limited mobility exercises, progressive exercises, challenging exercises, and maintenance exercises. I like this book very much and have found it to be quite helpful and informative, and a great helper with my lumbar pain issues. I suggest that you stop by his site for more information: Low Back Pain Program  I have a picture on Instagram of my calf stretch!

Muti Purpose Bags Review

Have you ever been on a trip and wondered if you were going to have spilled shampoo or lotion all over your clothes in the suitcase? I haven't thought about it for awhile, due to having vacation time used for surgeries in the past 5 years. Well, there's a bag made in a few different sizes to suit your needs at Dot & Dot. They come in X-Small, Small,Medium, and Large. Dot & Dot make their bags out of a waterproof mesh, and it allows you to view what is in the bag. Going on a plane trip? You can see through the bag, and they are good for airplane security checks. They are great for taking in your purse, your luggage, and even your diaper bag (I'll admit that that idea just came to my mind!). I know that there are some companies that their employees have to bring what they would carry into work in a see-thru bag---this would be a perfect idea for those employees.

I used mine in my purse, since I usually carry lotion, hand sanitizer (1 is a liquid spray and the other is a gel), and lip gloss that could make a big mess if they broke or came open. I'm quite happy with their product! I do have a picture on Instagram of it in my purse!

For more information or to purchase one, check them out here: Dot & Dot

"Coffee Dates From Hell" by Jim Tilberry

I love coffee and I figured that reviewing a book on dates that didn't turn out right from Coffee shops sounded cool to me! BTW, my husband Steve and I never had a date in a coffee shop, unless you can include going to Denny's late at night after the bar closed, back in the day when we were dating!
Jim Bilberry's book is quite interesting! People meeting for the first time and not understanding each other were a few of the stories he talks about. There was one story about Albert Einstein meeting a lady at a coffee shop after her dentist warned her not to meet up after her appointment. She wasn't answering Albert correctly and her answers were what I would were 1 syllable words that she was mumbling. Interdispersed between the stories, the author had mentioned about some strange coffee shops that didn't stay open too long and why, those were funny too!I was totally humored by the book, and I do recommend it!!

From the back of his book it says: 10 Things NOT to Do on a First Coffee Date

1) Show up on the wrong day.

2) Blurt out "You look much older than your photo" even though you're thinking it.

3) Pat for your coffee with a bag full of pennies.

4) Pick your nose.

5) Pick your dates nose.

6) Perform a ventriloquist act with your belly button.

7) Mention how in high school you were voted "Most likely to die alone in the gutter."

8)Talk about your hemorrhoids.

9) Start humming while the other person is talking. Some people consider this rude.

10) Mention how much you hate all four of your ex-spouses.
