As you know, Steve had his right knee arthroscopy Monday afternoon. He's doing awesome, and went back to work on Friday morning! He still has some surgical swelling, but that is to be expected. He went to physical therapy a few times this week, and gave up on using crutches after the first day.
I'm sitting here today, thinking that it would have been my mother's 75th birthday, 10/27/11. (She passed away in '98 from what had originally been breast cancer in '85 and had metastasized to cancer of the lymph of the lung in '96.) It is very appropo that I'm doing this post on sharing information with you about Hanes' Facebook app. It's a new Facebook app in which you can share comfort, by sending a virtual Comfort Package. Hanes Pink Tab on Facebook is where you can start creating a Virtual Comfort Package, for free, and send it to friends and family.
What I really like about this is that for every Virtual Care Package that is sent, Hanes will donate $1, up to $25, 000, to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. That will help to promote early breast cancer detection and to help those in need get mammograms. I went to the site Hanes Pink Tab on Facebook, and created a Virtual Comfort package for my friend Karisse, who had breast cancer herself at a young age. I added a pink t-shirt, some music and a note to her package. You can add up to 6 items, including a recipe, a video, a t-shirt, and some music. Then, send the virtual package via Facebook. You can post about sharing this site via Facebook and spread the word to others about this fantastically awesome Virtual Care Package! This can make someone's day, and give them support and caring thoughts, letting you know that you're thinking of them!
You can also watch videos of Hanes employees who have been affected by breast cancer. I went to the Words of Comfort Wall, and posted a comment, "May we find a cure in my lifetime." It is a section where we can leave thoughts and words of encouragement for those who have been touched by this disease!
This Virtual Comfort Package is one of many ways that Hanes contributes to breast cancer awareness, which they have been doing for a long time. And one more fact to ponder, Hanes has made cash and in-kind donations totaling $1,000,000 since 2009, and is donating up to $25,000 to NBCF this year. So, please stop at Hanes Pink Tab on Facebook, and create your own virtual comfort package to send to a friend or loved one!

About.me is a very interesting way of creating your own page where the links to all your online networks are on one page! I created one awhile ago, and am sharing it with you now. I connected my Twitter, My blog's Facebook page, and my blog all on one page. You can pick the background (or if I can remember correctly, download a pic for your background) for your page. You can pick fonts and colors, pretty much customizing your page! Then, add what online networks to want to your page! I didn't add a whole lot, and it's still a work in progress. It's free and when you sign up for About.me, you can get Moo Cards with your About.me information on them for free (you pay shipping and handling).
Here's the link to mine: Barb S.'s About.me . Go to About.me , and create your own!

There will be a few posts coming in the next few days! I was in a bit of a "blue funk" last week, on pins and needles waiting to find out if I was going to get last night off from work due to hubby's surgery today. On Saturday, I found out that there was coverage for my shift for last night! Whew! He's having a right knee arthroscopy soon. He's going to be off of work till probably Friday, and he starts PT tomorrow morning.

As you all know, I live in FL, and have for over 36.5 years. Which means that I haven't seen a decent leaf-changing situation in at least 37 years! Very frustrating! Our leaves tend to turn as you all up north and out west are having your winter weather, it seems. I've seen red leaves on trees along the Beachline, heading towards Orlando, in December, and sometimes even January. Sad!
Well, this week the weathermen on the Orlando channels have been telling us about cooler weather this week, where we will be going into the 50's at night. I'm living for it!! I definitely want cooler temps! The above pic is of my husband and our son, after a warm day at Epcot about 2.5 weeks ago. I know that they were sweaty in that picture! It was a warm day, in the 80's. Unfortunately, since I had a migraine that afternoon from the heat, I didn't get to join them at MK later that evening---when it was a little bit cooler.
I'd love to hear about your area during this time of the year! Leave me a comment!
Hi! As I mentioned two weeks ago, I was going to be trying Member's Mark 4X Probiotic and give a report back to you after I'd been on it for a bit. At first, I wasn't sure what to think, I was bloating a little, but it wasn't Auntie Flo time! I was trying to rule out if I'd had something to eat that was aggravating me or not. Looking back, it was my body adapting to the probiotics working in my digestive system! I can't remember the last time I'd felt truly regular with my bowel movements prior to the probiotics! They honestly work, I've gone every day (and sometimes twice a day), without constipation or diarrhea!!!! Woohoo! That is honestly a good thing for me, with the 18.5 years of off and on constipation or diarrhea from the IBS! Less Librax!!
If you have issues with digestive health, I definitely recommend this product!! It's worked for me, and as a woman and a RN, I'm quite happy with it! I can take with my meds first thing in the morning, after breakfast! If you want to read some other posts on the Probiotics from other bloggers from Collective Bias, then stop on over to Digestive Health For Me, and go to the forum! Member's Mark 4X Probiotic is available at Sam's Club.

Have you ever got into a book and the detailing was incredible? The Realms Thereunder is one of this books. Ross Lawhead has a way with words, describing his characters and the places they go in such detail, that you can feel that you are a part of the book! The two main characters, Freya Reynolds and Daniel Tully, are an unusual match. Freya's a university student with OCD and she loves myth and folklore. Daniel's living on the streets and waging a war with enemy, one of which he can only identify!
Daniel and Freya were involved in a situation in another world when they were younger, disappearing from a field trip and ending in another area back at home many days later. Neither one really wanted to talk about it when they ran into each other in present day. Together, they would be able to unite and deal with a new present day adventure from the mythical world, in the British Islands.
I liked the book and the characters, though sometimes I got too caught up in trying to pronounce the characters from The Mystical World, Ecgbryt and Swidgar, to name a couple! The Realms Thereunder definitely kept my interest, though with my crazy work schedule and homelife, it took me a couple of months to read! It's definitely great read, and I would definitely suggest this book for young adults and adults to read, if they are into mythical worlds reaching into reality!!!! I really can't think of any similar books to come it to. It's 377 pages long, and in an average size print paperback. Book Two in this Ancient Trilogy comes in September 2012. Enclosed is a link for the book on Amazon: The Realm Thereunder
I was given this book through BookSneeze in order to facilitate a review! The opinions expressed were my own!!
The last one that I'm sharing in the trio today! I wanted to find a decent Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (I'm watching Glee Season 1 dvds this afternoon, and Bohemian Rhapsody was one of the songs sung!), but no luck! Found this one, and thought that you all would be humored!
Digestive health is definitely a topic that I never thought that I'd discuss online, though I'm a RN and I deal with all sorts of problems with that in the geriatric population! I have had what is called irritable Bowel Syndrome for about 18.5 years. It started when I was working the 11pm to 7 am shift at a hospital back in '93. I was working crazy hours, and eating what I would now call lousy. I had begun to lose some weight, which I thought was okay, even though I was constantly walking the halls at the hospital. When the nausea and diarrhea started the kick in, I started not to feel so great. The opposite side of the bowel situation hit me, too, with bouts of constipation. I ended up having to go to a gatroenterologist for it, and he performed only the upper endoscopy procedure. Afterwards he told me that I had GERD and IBS, and I needed to watch what I ate. I think that I got a list from him on the do's and don'ts, but that was so long ago.
I thought that I could eat out with my husband back then at restaurants, but as soon as I'd ate something, I would being running to the restroom, and my food would be running out the lower end, undigested. I got to know where restrooms where in different places, pretty much, due to what the foods would do to me! Sad, but true. I got put on Librax, but it was only a temporary fix, and that only "helped " with the abdominal cramping that would occur. I still suffer with IBS to this day, but it depends on what I've had to eat or drink, and the amount of sleep I've had. Cafffeine and fried foods really set it off.
I just started taking Member's Mark 4X Probiotic this morning, after breakfast. I hoping that I will have less bloating and a more balanced bowel system after using this for awhile. The past 18.5 years haven't exactly had a balanced bowel system for me!
There is a Twitter party going on October 5th from 9 to 10 pm EST, and you can participate and win products or gift cards. Here's the RSVP link for the Twitter Party: Digestive Health Twitter party.
Oops! My bad! I guess that I can't count, when I'm tired! I mentioned trio of songs this morning, and forgot that I had posted 4 songs for the Music Moves Me Monday---not 3! Oh well, I hope that you all enjoyed them!
He's one of my very favorite Christian musicians! Steve and I were blessed to see him playing some music at at Dennis Rainey Marriage conference a few years ago with some of our friends!! I've loved his music ever since '02 and that conference! We also saw him read during a Candlelight Ceremony at Epcot in the past 3 years!!! I love his music and this is one of my favorite SCC songs!
