BakeitFun Baking Mat Review

I've baked numerous times before with my silicon muffin pan, and the muffins never stuck in it. Plus, it was easy to clean! I've always wanted to try a silicon baking mat before on my baking sheets, so when the opportunity came up with Tomoson's, I just couldn't resist!

I received the BakeitFun Baking Mat recently, and it was so easy to use! First, prior to using it, you have to wash it, and obviously dry it. Then you apply a thin layer of cooking oil to preserve it for the first use. You don't have to do the oil step again, unless you run it through the dishwasher. (I've been hand washing ours.) The baking mat is a USA Half Size Mat, and it measures 11-5/8" x 16 -1/2". It fit our baking sheets just right.  Some other directions for use are to use it with the writing side up, pre-heat the oven before placing the mat, it's high temperature resistant from -40F to 450F, the cooking time might be shorter using it,  and to let the baked item(s) cool for a bit before removing them off of the baking mat.

I decided to bake some pudding cookies for the family on the BakeitFun baking mat. The cookies always seem to stick to our baking sheets, and I'm constantly having to scrub the stuck-on cookie residue. Yay me, after baking the cookies on the baking mat, and letting them cool, I was able to actually remove the cookies with either a spatula or even my fingers because it's nonstick! No residue on anything! I was so happy to clean the baking sheet, the baking mat, and whatever else I had used in the making of the cookies that night! I plan to use the BakeitFun Baking Mat  this fall for more baking, but I haven't quite figured out what just yet! It's so easy to clean!  Stop by BakeitFun's website for more information. There will be another post later on tonight if not tomorrow with the YouTube videos that I'm trying to finish! There will be two parts!

Abigail And The Jungle Adventure (E-Book Review: Children's)

Yes, I'm reviewing children's books! Some of my favorite books are children's, which I've saved for my future grandchildren(no, I'm not rushing my 15 year old son!) or nieces (I have a wee niece in MD whom I've never met yet!) someday. Those books are the soft cover or hardbound books, and others will be e-books on my Kindle App or my iPad! The book that I'm talking with you about in the  review today happens to be an e-book! I'm going to tell you ahead of time that I enjoyed Abigail's adventure! This book is for preschoolers learning to read, and for a self-read book for beginners readers children, for ages 2 to 8!

Abigail's staying at her grandparents' house during Christmas, while her parents are away on a business trip. She loves their house. Grandpa had a hobby of making some quite interesting machines which could do all sorts of things. Abigail went up to the attic one day while she was wandering around the house. The attic was dark but mysterious, and she turned raw light on, and removed the cover off of an object! Guess what? It was a shiny red bike with a mysterious book in the basket! (That's when Barb says, "Way Cool"!) Of Course, Abigail was an adventurous sort of young lady, and  she looked inside the book! Inside the book were pictures from around the world!
Taking a few sentences from the book, a page read, "Dear Adventurer, the book and bike before you are magical. Just think of the place you want to visit and repeat the following sentences three times: "Take me there, let me see, Show me where I want to be!"

The next thing that you know, she's in the Amazon Jungle and she starts to meet animals there and then a boy named Nuka! I don't want to give anymore of the book away, so you can check it out at Amazon Kindle e-book or at Paperback book. The book is written by Tali Carmi and illustrated by Mindy Liang.

InstaNatural Gentle and Reviving Deep Cleansing Facial Oil Review

The newest way of removing your make-up these days is using deep cleansing facial oil! Have you tried any yet? I have found at my age, 52, that my skin needs all of the moisture that it can get to keep it supple and smooth. I recently tried InstaNatural Gentle and Reviving Deep Cleansing Facial Oil. It's a skin and & pore purifier. The ingredients in this product help to melt away dirt, impurities and makeup without stripping the skin of its natural oils (this was taken from the label on the bottle).
What I've done to remove my makeup is to spray a little bit on a cotton makeup removing pad, and and then gently wipe it on my face--- removing the makeup at the same time! It smells nice, from the combination of several oils, some essential, in it! Do keep it away from the eyes, though! It's made in the USA and it has not been tested on animals!
I like the smell of it, and how well it cleanses the makeup off of my face.

DSpeed Fast-Melt Vitamin D3 1000 IU Review

I'm one of those people who doesn't get enough sun and haven't in the past few years! During the past few years, due to hot flashes and the foot and back surgeries, I spent less time outside. There is a secret that I don't mention much, but I have fibromyalgia. I had read something in the past few years about Vitamin D levels and fibromyalgia, and had asked my primary care physician to have a vitamin D level  drawn on me. Well, come to find out, that level was 25, low, but not extremely low. My sister Karen's level was around 18, if I remember correctly, but I can't remember why her doctor ordered hers.  I started having to take Vitamin D supplements about 2 or so years ago and am still on them. I was on 1000 IU till earlier this year, and ended up having to be increased to 4000 IU a day, plus whatever is in my women's multivitamin for 50+.

I want to tell you a little about Vitamin D3. It's known as the "sunshine" vitamin, and the body can manufacture it through the skin when the skin's exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D3 supports bone and teeth formation, cellular health, and the immune system. Quite important, eh?

I was excited to have the chance to try  DSpeed Fast-Melt Vitamin D3 1000 IU for a review! I had never had fast-melt D3, it's always been soft gels or tablets that don't melt! They have a great peach taste!  DSpeed is made by using Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) from lanolin (this is from their box) and helps the body replenish this nutrient to fight off possible Vitamin D3 deficiencies. With the consultation of a physician, people with low levels of the nutrient should strongly consider Vitamin D3 supplementation. Their dosage is 1000 IU a day, one tablet. (I'm on 4000 IU a day, per my endocrinologist's orders, please note.) Theirs is free from: yeast, gluten, soy, milk, dairy, sodium, preservatives, artificial coloring, sugar, and artificial flavoring! I do like them, and do recommend them!

Professional Garlic Press Propresser (Review)

How do you get your garlic ready for cooking? Do you peel it, then crush it with a knife? We used to peel it ourselves or buy it ready in the jars from the grocery stores, to be honest! I received a Professional Garlic Press Propresser from Orblue recently to review. We cook with garlic frequently, but the week that I had received the press, we weren't cooked anything remotely related to a garlic dish.
During the past two weeks, we made tacos one weekend, and this weekend, Steve used garlic in our chicken piccata, our sloppy joes and our cottage pie. The pictures that I took usually our Propresser were taken during the taco weekend.(That picture is on Instagram!) We both like the Propresser, because you don't have to peel the garlic! You put a clove of garlic in the chamber and SQUEEZE! It took me a little bit of squeeze power to squeeze the garlic! The pressed garlic when into the food, and the garlic skins stayed in the chamber! (The garlic skins do come out later, when you use the small thin black brush to clean out the basket or chamber!) From the product promotions descriptions, I"m borrowing what they said, because I happen to like how they explained something. "DESIGNED WITH EASE OF USE IN MIND - Hold the Propresser Garlic Press in your hand. Note the thickness of the handles and how comfortably your fingers wrap around them. With a clove of garlic nestled in the basket the handles are the ideal distance apart to maximize leverage. Gently squeeze the handles together. You'll be delighted at how easily, how effortlessly your Propresser Garlic Press produces perfectly minced garlic."

It can mince garlic in one easy press! The press itself is made of 100% stainless steel, won't rust, won't weaken at the joints, and won't break. Knowing your luck, you will be able to pass it onto your children or not your grandkids!  The basket is large enough that you can do a few cloves . You seriously don't have to worry about the garlic clove's skins ending up in your food, they end up in the trash can or down the garbage disposal. I cleaned ours with dishwashing liquid and the little black brush that comes with it, then I left it to "Air dry". They do have an awesome guarantee!

We're quite happy with it, and maybe someday it will go to Steven! He's becoming a bit of a BBQ teen here, and he's helping out in the kitchen more!

Information About Osteoporosis (sponsored)

Disclosure: I was given information from the American Recall Center in order to share this information with my readers, and no compensation was received.

Here's some information in a graphic for you about osteoporosis.  It runs in my family on my mother's side, though we never knew whether or not if she had it (she passed away in '98).  Even though I'm a RN, I did not know that over 10.2 million adults have osteoporosis (yes, men get it, too) and another 43.4 million have low bone mass.

For more information, you can read about it at The Recall Center .

Weight Gurus Digital Bathroom Scale review

Do you have one of those scales that you like you are at the doctor's office? Or is yours like the kind where the pointer is visible through a piece of glass, and it points at a number weight? If so, you need to get technical and get a digital scale which syncs with your smartphone via an app! I was living in a semi digital world where my old scale (I won't name the brand!) didn't sync with any apps and did not keep track of my weight, much less give any numbers than "0.5" or ".0" along with my weight.

I was getting frustrated with that old scale, since I am dieting per one of my doctor's order. I was blessed to be able to review Weight Gurus Digital Bathroom Scale . You can track your progress with it via a smartphone app that you can download from iTunes or Google Play, and it will sync your results from the scale to your app! I love it! It can help you stay motivated, when you see the graph of your weights for the days that you weighed! It can help you reach your goals! It can weigh up to 400 pounds.  You are able to read it with the backlit and X-Large LCD screen. Sync your measurements with your smartphone using Appsync technology! I forgot to mention that 8 separate users are able to use it and it stores their memory. The glass platform is made of impact resistant safety glass, which is a very good thing---since I'm klutzy! It takes 4 AAA batteries which are included. FYI---Please Note:  smartphones are NOT required for scale use. They do help, though, in aiding you to keep track of your data via Appsync.   Check out more information here: Weight Guru
I have a few pictures to show you about it!

The photo where I was weighing myself and had the app sync code with it is on Instagram. Go there to check it out!

Mega Mesh Premium Magnetic Screen Door Review

Have you ever wished that you had a screen door where you didn't have one? Are flying bugs driving you up the wall? Do you wish that the screen door would close itself after you walked through it?
I recently got the opportunity to review The Mega Mesh Premium Magnetic Screen Door. I really love it! I had a choice of three doors in our house to put it on, and  I chose our master bathroom door which goes to our screened-in patio. The screen's 36 inches across, and I chose a 30 inch doorway. I did have some overage, but that was okay. It's very easy to install: you first lay it out on the floor. It comes with velcro, and you put the velcro strips on it before you can hang it up. I was able to do the velcro part by myself, but when it came to hanging it up--- I had to get son the help me. Luckily, he's about 2 to 3 inches taller than me, and we put it up together.

We peeled the paper strip off of the sticky side of the velcro strip, which was already on the magnetic screen edges. Next, we adhered it to the wall above the door (about 5mm higher in the middle) and around the door sides, pressing it to the wall. I need to go back and use the tacks (supplied with it) through the inner velcro, to keep it in place! It works great, keeping the flying bugs out, and our birds in!! I do recommend it!

Features: easy to install, pet-friendly product, hands-free entry, cool your home, protection for your family.

Design: strong magnets sewn in, seamless automatic closure,  high quality micro mesh, withstands heavy traffic, velcro sewn into seam.

Check them out :Mega Mesh, and you can buy them through

Cleopatra's Choice 100% Pure African Shea Butter in Ivory Color (Review)

How important is it for you to use organic product on your skin and/or your face? It's starting to become more important to me as the years go on. I may be a little bit older than some of my readers and then again, I maybe about the same age of some of my readers! 52, and my dry is pretty much all over my body this days. I was glad to have the opportunity to try this shea butter, to see what it could do with my skin!

First, I'm going to tell you a few things about it:
* 100% pure  unrefined, organic shea butter
* deep-absorbing-- long lasting hydration
* Legendary for treatment of dry skin, minor burns & eczema (I did not know this before I received the product! I have eczema, and that is important to me. Hopefully my sister Laura will see this ---my niece Mary has eczema bad. From what I hear, it is worse that what my ever was!)
*Does not clog pores or leave skin greasy.
*Pours rich amounts of Vitamins A & E into skin for hydration.
*Helps treat dreak spots (unfamiliar with these, this came from the package!), skin discolorations, stretch marks and blemishes.
* Fair trade product--produced by women subsistence farmers in Ghana, African.
* Also great for preventing wrinkles by keeping facial skin moisturized and for us as Lip Balm.

I liked how it made my skin feel so soft and moisturized after it absorbed! It has a very mild fragrance, and it's not perfumey. I have even tried it on my heels, and applied sock on it afterwards! Unfortunately, I did not take any pics of the moisturized heels, mine are not sexy or beach-lovely!
I do like it!

Advanced Probiotic Ultra From Optimal Healthcare Labs (review)

I've been taking probiotics for about 4 years now, for a dietary supplement for digestive health, due to having irritable bowel syndrome. I had the opportunity to review Advanced Probiotic Ultra from Optimal Healthcare Labs, and I was glad to check their probiotic out! Two capsules, shown in the above picture with the bottle, is a daily dose. I usually take mine in the morning with breakfast.
I have noticed that when I miss taking a day's dose a day or two, I tend to get constipated (I know, TMI, but if you've been reading my blog for some time, there isn't too much that I won't talk about!). If I keep on my daily schedule of taking the Advanced Probiotic Ultra, I have been less likely to get constipated, and I stay regular!   The probiotic care formula of theirs does the following:
* it promotes digestive health, * it replenishes natural balance of the good bacteria, * it supports immune health, and last but not least, * it helps reduce digestive upsets! The reason why I like their brand is because it doesn't  have extra added vitamins or other supplements, just the Probiotic bacteria: Bacillus Subtillus, L. Rhamnosus, L. Casei, B. Longum, L. Acidophilus, L. Plantarum,  and B.Breve. Please note that if you have allergies, it contains milk (lactose fermentation process).

Long Time No Write!

Long time no write, well, on my part! I actually went through a blogging funk, where I just couldn't get creative writing juices going...
