TheraBreath Oral Rinse and Toothpaste Review and Giveaway ( US only, ends 5/5/2011)

Have you ever had a problem with bad breath or with not-so-lovely breath (after having onions or garlic)? I checked the products out after my husband had made chicken piccata with onions and shallots and garlic one night!
Oh boy, bad breath!!! It is not a pleasant thing, especially for you or the ones around you! Dr. Harold Katz, the founder of The California Breath Clinics, did some research back in the 90's when his own teenage daughter had a problem with bad breath, and he was unable to help her. He realized that bad breath is caused by a group of anaerobic sulfur-producing bacteria which breed WITHIN the tongue's surface and throat. Bad breath doesn't come from the digestive system, according to his website. Dr. Katz' bio page.

I had the opportunity to review TheraBreath  Oral Rinse, TheraBreath Toothpaste, and TheraBreath Mouth Wetting Lozenges!

The toothpaste was used with a dry toothbrush, per the instructions on the tube. It had a very-mild, not overpowering taste. I brushed my teeth and tongue and insides of my mouth, and rinsed. My mouth didn't feel like the inside of it was burning, like some toothpastes can do. It actually felt clean and my breath stayed fresh! WOW! The oral rinse followed the toothpaste, and the taste was also mild, but that is a good thing! My breath felt fresh for at least a good hour or two! (Son tried the toothpaste and he  wasn't crazy about it. )

I also tried the TheraBreath Mouth Wetting Lozenges, which I brought some into work  & my son took some with him to school.  They were enjoyed by those who tried them, and they definitely liked the taste and what the lozenges did for their mouths. We, my family collectively, enjoyed them, and continue to do so! I know that son uses them at school to keep his breath fresh. I definitely have them in my lunch bag & purse, using them when I need to get my breath fresh and to keep my mouth moist! I definitely recommend them!

So far, in my travels in my area, I have found their products at Walgreens and WalMart. I have enclosed several links in which you can learn more about the TheraBreath products:

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all of my readers today! He is Risen indeed!

I went to work last night, and there ended up being 4 nurses scheduled. The census was down and one of us wasn't needed, so I volunteered to go home. (I'll use vacation time to cover my hours, I'm not worried!)
I was fatigued, so it was a good thing that I came home. Since I had had a glass of tea around 8pm and a cup of coffee around 10pm, I wasn't going to be able to go to sleep right away, without the help of my Restoril, unfortunately. I watched a little tv, and  some of the Doctor Who episodes were still playing late on BBCAmerica! I wasn't awake enough to post, I was too tired and they wouldn't have made any sense!

I do have a few postings planned for this week, and expect them to be posted on my days off (Monday and Tuesday).

Meet me on Monday!

I'm going to attempt to do this today, and see if I can successfully do it! Every Sunday Never Growing Old
will post 5 get to know you questions that you can copy and post into your own Monday post.

Questions:

1.  Caesar Salad or Garden Salad?
2.  Will you be watching the Royal Wedding on April 29th?
3.  Last thing you spent lots of money on?
4.  Window seat or aisle seat?
5.  Do you know your blood type?
---------------------------------------------------------------

1) If I can have chicken in it, I'll pick Caesar Salad! Otherwise, I like garden salad, with ranch or french dressing.

2) Yes, and what I can't watch of it, I'll be dvr'ing!!! I watched Diana and Charles' wedding back in '81, after I got home from  college classes!

3)Probably the Clarisonic Classic Sonic Skin Cleansing in the Breast Cancer Pink color back in January! I used some Christmas money towards it.

4) Window or aisle seat?  HRRRRRMMM?!  I used to be a window seat gal, but I haven't flown in an airplane since '92. I guess that nowadays I would be an aisle seat gal, since I have restless leg syndrome and I have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time!

5) O, but I can't remember if I'm positive of negative!

Until next time,
BARB

Review: Home-Ec 101: Skills For Everyday Living-Cook it, Clean it, Fix it, Wash it

I've got to admit something to my readers, I learned most of what I'm able to do now around the house from my husband, from when we dated and through all of the almost 22 years of marriage! I sure wish that Heather Solos "Home-Ec 101" book was around back then! I sure could have used it, and wouldn't have been so overwhelmed as I was years ago! (Laundry, oh man, if I didn't turn clothes colors, I was real lucky. Cooking and following recipes, along with buying the proper ingredients, was a trek into the unknown!)

Heather's Home-Ec101 book cover

I was reading Chapter 20, which was entitled "Meal Planning: Not Just For Control Freaks".

I love that chapter title! As I would say, too cool! At the beginning of the chapter, Heather starts by telling you to clear off the table, and to get used to eating at it. (We have two tables in our house, one in the kitchen and the other in the dining room! And where do we eat, in the family room!)
She also recommends sitting down and making a list of activities that may make meal planning difficult. Definitely don't plan a difficult meal on a busy night! Plan 5 meals a week, and one of the other nights can be a clean out refrigerator night (CORN)! Heather talks about using the grocery store ad to plan your meals with, buying some of your groceries on sale.
Other ideas are to introduce one new food item a week, if you are cooking for others,  and be open to suggestions. Pay attention to the reactions of the others, if they like something or not. Vary your sides, like rice one night, pasta on another night. Recipes for stock and meatloaf were included in the chapter.
I really learned some new things that gave me a new way of thinking about meal preparation!!

Her book can be bought through Amazon: Home-Ec 101 by Heather Solos
And at Barnes and Noble:Home-Ec 101 by Heather Solos

I received the opportunity to read a chapter from Heather Solos' book Home-Ec 101 from One2One Network, of which I am a member, free of charge. The opinions expressed are my own!

Yanni--- Truth of Touch (CD Review)

Yanni has recently returned with a new studio album called "Truth Of Touch", and it is in stores now! He  also launched a 40 city tour on March 22nd. (I actually was at a Best Buy in my area tonight, and I happened to see the cd on the shelf. How awesome!)  I was listening to the digital cd I received earlier this week after work one morning, and it was really relaxing! The first song, Truth of Touch, really caught my attention! As I listened to Yanni's instrumentals, I was soothed, totally different than the songs that we hear on the radio these days! The only song that I wasn't real crazy about was the song called "Can't Wait", I didn't like hearing singing with the instrumental music! I'm being honest!
Here's a way of checking out some of his music and info about his tour : The Official Website of Yanni

Yanni's tour dates are here: Tour Dates
What a bummer that I can't go to his Orlando concert on April 20th, it's on one of my work nights! That's the closest tour site that he'll be near me! But alas, some of you all might be living in cities or nearby ones where he'll be visiting! Just scope out the info!

Just a few pictures above of the album cover and of Yanni playing the piano!

Disclosure: I'm a member of the One2One Network, and I was given a digital copy of the cd in order to facilitate this review. By doing my review and reporting it, I'm entering into a drawing.  The opinions were my own!

Book Review: Divine Appointments by Charlene Ann Baumbich

I recently completed a book that I'd like to tell you about! It's called Divine Appointments, and it was written by Charlene Ann Baumbich, author of The Dearest Dorothy Series.  It started out talking about Josie Brooks, who was 47  and single. She was a consultant for hire for companies who were in the process of restructure, and she moved to where the money was at the time. One of those people who tended to not have much of a social life and had few friends, due to her work.

She had gone to a Collector's Convention early on in the book, purchasing a snowglobe that she had bought from a vendor. This snowglobe had water appearing to run in it! There wasn't a knob or a switch to wind up on it! She almost didn't get to buy it, because a man near her wanted to purchase it.  She ran into a lady, breaking her nose by acccident, with the bag holding the snowglobe.  Awhile, later, after Josie had been in her new place, this woman called her to tell her about the mystifying things that had happened to her  since a snowglobe had come into her life!  The snow globe  has a lot of influence in this book, I'm not going to tell you why!  A great deal of the book took place around some other key characters that worked at the company, Diamond Mutual,  who had hired Josie for consult work.  Marsha, one who was upset over her husband divorcing her, and wrote a story about it. Barb, a good friend of Marsha's and an uplifting one, at that!  Lyle Waters, Barb's and Marsha's boss, and who Josie has to interact with during the consulting process. Amelia, Josie's realtor, who tries to get Josie to be friends and to go out & do things.
Lyle and Josie have interaction off and on throughout the book, but I don't want to give away what happens between them!

Divine Appointments definitely held my attention throughout the whole book, maybe because I'm close in age to the main character and that I, too, am going through perimenopause! Seriously, I loved the book, and it definitely held my attention captive! It was well-written, and definitely could be read at anytime of the year. I would highly recommend it!

Oh boy! It's Monday!

Oh boy, it's Monday, and I've got a 4 day stretch of work ahead of me! I woke up early to take Steven to school this morning, on his first day back after Spring Break. I've been doing some laundry and watching some shows to get them off of the dvr. I also spent a little bit of time cleaning up my blog, and changing the design. Now, blog buttons from those I follow will be in alphabetical order, and less cluttered. I still need to create a button for this blog----I have some ideas, but really don't know how to turn a little pic into a button with writing on it. Advice, anyone??

Steven came down with a sinus infection last week, and was put on antibiotics this past Friday. Trying to make sure that he has some yogurt , too!  I don't know if he's ever known what it is like not to have a respiratory problem of some kind! Ever since he was a baby, even from birth, he's had either respiratory infections or sinus problems. He keeps trucking along, managing to enjoy playing with his friends, doing karate and now sword classes.  I think that I'm starting to get a cold, so I've been trying to drink plenty of fluids and take decongestant meds--definitely not the way to start out the week!

Anyhow, I've given up on putting the Christmas pics up on the blog, it's way too late, and I should have posted them in January I'm such a slacker, I know! I will upload some pics to the Mac this week from last week's Mom and Son trip to WDW, and then do a post about them. Steven and I had a great time together! Though he sometimes gets annoyed with me taking pics of him, especially when he's eating, he loves spending time with me at Disney! He's my Disney buddy!

Ciao, for now!

Official Trailer 1 - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

I sooooo can't wait for the new movie to come out on May 20th! I'm such a fan of this series of movies, that I bought the BluRay version set of the 1st three movies recently. I think that I'll go to the 3-D version!
