iPhone app review of Alzebra from Punflay!!!

Alzebra is a new educational app from Punflay from their popular Mathematix series. This app is designed to teach kindergartners basic algebra! And, boy is it fun! I reviewed this app myself, due to the fact that my 11 year old's been busy with homework ,studying for tests,  and working on science project stuff during the past week. (Son usually likes to scope out games on my iPhone, even if they're for younger ones than him!)

It has 5 different games to choose from within the app: Pizza Mania, Tummy Time, Space Rock, Number Strike, and Sound Sequence. I played 3 out of the 5 during the past week: Pizza Mania, Space Rock, and Tummy Time.
With the Tummy Time game, you had to get the animal near the food that was pictured on the screen for it, as the food fell from the sky. If the animal ate the wrong food, it ended up with a tummy ache! This was a harder one for me--- I guess that I'm not smarter than a kindergartner!!  I didn't do so well at it!

The next one that I played was the Pizza Mania game. Beside the slice of pizza were pictures of the toppings that needed to be placed on the pizza. The toppings would be moving around and appearing on the page---you had to get them on the slice!!! I did do better on this one!!!

The last game that I had a chance to play was Space Rock, and to me, it was the easiest one! A pattern would go across the top of the screen , and you would have to complete the sequence!

If I had a young one around kindergarten age, I would definitely want this app for him or her! It teaches sequencing and basic concepts of algebra for  young ones!!!

It is available on iTunes currently for 99 cents.

Disclosure: I received the opportunity to review this iPhone app from Punflay, who supplied the app  via Mommy Blogs Product Review Network, and the opinions expressed were my own!

Thursday evening

Good evening! Aiming to post a review tonight, after a few errands! Stay tuned, especially if you have young ones!
Ciao!

Friday Night's Alright!

Well, it's Friday evening---almost-- and my guys are at a church "garage sale" trying to sell stuff for the youth retreat going on next weekend. Both hubby and DS11 are there, while I'm vegging out doing laundry and watching dvds, and cleaning dishes from some earlier cookie baking that I did!
I just got through watching the newest Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue!!! I am definitely never too old to watch Disney movies!!! I am still a kid at heart!
I never got the chance to watch Beauty and the Beast when it came out at the movie theaters years ago, and so when it came out on blu-ray earlier this month, I decided to buy it for me, and I'll bet that son will end up watching it, too! Last weekend, I found some Halloween Disney dvds at Best Buy---at two different ones(one in Orlando on 441 near the FL Mall, and the other one was in Melbourne) for $6.99 and $10.99, so I got about 5 of them. We now have all of the Halloween Town series of dvds, son really liked that group of movies. Hocus Pocus, with Sarah Jessica Parker and two other actresses that I can't think of at the moment, is the next movie that I've got in the line-up for tonight while I'm alone!
I found a cheap dvd of Poltergiest I think at Walmart recently, and though I watched it at the movies back in 1982, it still creeps me out, but I like to watch it anyway! I'll probably watch it during the daytime next week on one of my days off! "Carol Ann, Carol Ann, come to the light, Carol Ann."
We tend to do Fall Festivals at church, but since son's got his retreat next weekend, I doubt that he'll be going to one of our church's fall festivals. Highly doubtful about going around the neighborhood getting candy, either. I'm half-hoping that he's over trick-or-treating!! Can't believe that he'll be 12 in about 1 and 1/2 months!!!
  Until next time...... buena sera!

Win a Copy of Wolf Signs by Vivian Arend!!! (Ends 10/27!)

Samhain Publishing is offering a copy of Wolf Signs to a lucky winner at my blog!!

Win a copy of A Wolf Signs by Vivian Arend!
Wolf Signs
Robyn Maxwell doesn’t care that her brother has to cancel out on their backcountry ski trip. She can do it alone. The fact she’s deaf doesn’t make her survival skills any weaker. The chance to get away from it all and relax in the Yukon wilderness is just what she’s been craving.
Meeting wilderness guide Keil at the cabin starts cravings of another kind. Keil’s one hot hunk of ripped, tasty male. Now she has to deal with raging hormones as well as strange questions about wolves and mates and challenges to the death.
Keil was trying for a nice reflective retreat before challenging for the Alpha position of his Alaskan pack. He wasn’t planning on meeting the woman destined to be his mate, or finding out she’s not aware she has the genes of a wolf.
Between dealing with his accident-prone younger brother, a deaf mate with an attitude and an impending duel to the death, his week—and his bed—is suddenly full.
Far from the relaxing getaway any of them had in mind...

Moderation Nation review and giveaway (ends 10/21/10)

moderationnation.gif

With Moderation NAtion, Aa new national program created by the Hershey Center for Health & Nutrition, (HCHN) in collaboration with the American  Dietetic Association, you can now have access to a variety of tools that will help you achieve moderation---and you don't even need to give up your favorite foods!

I have checked out the website and have downloaded the app for my iPhone, having slowly added my activity on to it! I've noticed that the app kind of cheers you on , with each activity you do!! The app also has a activity snack reminder on it, which helps you remember to have a healthy snack, and you get friendly reminders during the week---you can set up the days!  For on-the-go needs, the new Moderation Nation iPhone app, free and available on iTunes or via www.themoderationnation.com, will reward you for the activity you're already doing, while encouraging you to do even more in a way that suits your busy lifestyle. With an easy-to-read tracker and a comprehensive list of activities (my thought thrown in here----even housecleaning is considered a activity on the list!!!!!)to choose from, you can earn badges for your progress and go from a Starting Gun to a Healthy Hero.

The Moderation Nation website  has recipes and expert tips, moderation menus, a balance the meal tool, and useful facts.

So far, no weight loss for me yet, but I'm slowly using the site and my iPhone app to assist me along the way!!! I'm working on better choices with the info that I've got from the Moderation Nation site, and will continue to do so!

For the main entry, check out the Moderation Nation website and comment on what you feel you will benefit most from, OR  try out the free iPhone app and share your experience and progress!

Extra entries---1) follow me publicly via GFC.
2) follow me on twitter and post your twitter name in your comment.
3) tweet about the giveaway and post the tweet link in your comment.
4) post about my giveaway and put the link to it in your comment.

The Moderation Nation prize pack includes a" Moderation Nation"  t-shirt, Hershey's chocolate and a nutritional journal to track your food and activities.

Giveaway ends October 21, 2010 at 11:59 pm EST. Winner will have 48 hours in which to send me contact info.

Noisemaker's off the site, ya'll!

OK,  after realizing  how/that music can be annoying  when you visit a blog, I have decided to remove it from mine (the Blip-thing!). I couldn't do anything on my blog without it turning on, and it was really annoying my hubby and son! I couldn't listen to my Live 365 Disney music, without the overpowering playing of Blip!!!!
I can imagine how it bothered you all! So,now,  the only thing that currently will play is when you hit the play button on "I Like It"!

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!!! A Safe Harbor by Moira Rogers!!

The winner chosen by random organizer was #2, Sarah! Sarah said...
I've heard so much about this series but not had a chance to read it yet! Would LOVE to win the first book :-)

Sarah, I will be e-mailing you soon. You have 48 hours in which to contact me and send me your info!  Congrats!!!

Win a copy of A Safe Harbor by Moira Rogers!
A Safe HarborFind out how it all began...
During the bite of the Great Depression, sole female dominant Joan  Fuller struggles against the rise of cruelty among her alpha  counterparts. The men tolerate her interference--until she breaks from  the pack and allies with a witch and a vampire. Now the Boston alpha  intends to bring them all forcibly back into the fold--and teach her a  lesson she may not survive.
Seamus Whelan and his werewolf bootleggers intend to retire from  smuggling and savor their fortune, but first they must do a favor for an  old friend: escort some female wolves to safety. An easy job, if their  leader wasn't a prim ex-debutante with enough power to challenge Seamus  himself. Chance makes them allies; powerful need makes them lovers.
Together, they have the opportunity to build a sanctuary for their kind,  but first they must free themselves from Joan's past, and the powerful  man who would see her destroyed.
